A 16-year-old's app launch on X: 100 to 10K in one year
Rexan posted numbered promo posts for his video app to about 70 views each. In September 2024 he launched a three-hour app, text-behind-image, on X: three posts, 959K views. He then posted 50–60 times a month about users and bills, and says he hit 10K that December. When he chose to build quietly, growth slowed to a crawl.

Summary
The play
Build a small tool you can show in one image and launch it on X; open with who you are; then post your user counts and bills every week.
Can you copy it? Our read
What you can copy is the launch: a tool you can show in one image, a demo post, a launch post, then user counts every week. What you can't copy is a launch that catches. Fits an app maker who ships small tools fast.
- What it takes
- A working tool people want to try, and something new to post most days after it lands.
- Startup cost
- Your time, plus whatever the app costs to run.
- Time to a verdict
- Judge it on each launch post: his went from a median of 68 views to 416K in four months.
- Window
- Teen and indie app launches are common on X now; the tool has to be clear from one picture.
Key findings
The product was the post
In September 2024 he posted only 12 main posts, but three about text-behind-image drew 959K views between them. Three months later he says he hit 10K. See play 2.1 (subscribers)
Bills that show user counts
"Here's how the Supabase bill looks when your app has 200K+ users: $200" reached 218,459 views. It reads as a cost and shows the users. See play 2.2 (subscribers)
His recaps mostly check out
"Results posts grew me most" and "I haven't posted much" hold. "23K in a year" does not: by his own start points it took 16 to 23 months.
Going quiet cost him growth
From his fastest stretch, about 83 followers a day, he fell to about 6 a day in 2026, as main posts fell from 1.6 to 0.5 a day. See play 3.1 (subscribers)

Each bar is one day, in date order; its height is how many main posts (originals, quotes and articles; not replies) went out that day. This chart counts posts per day rather than listing each post. May 2–3, 2026 read zero for every account we track: a gap in the data.

Their own numbers, checked
He wrote two recaps, in July and December 2025. We checked what can be checked against the public posts and daily post counts:
| What he said (self-reported) | What the data shows (fact) | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| "a year ago i had 200 followers", 20K today (Jul 29, 2025) | No follower history. His other posts (100 at the start of 2024, 10K on Dec 30, 15K on Feb 28) fit with it | Can't check; his own numbers agree with each other |
| "23K followers on X in a year" (Dec 1, 2025) | By his own start points: about 23 months from 100 followers, about 16 months from 200 | Does not hold: "a year" is a round figure |
| "5+ apps with 400K+ users" (Jul 2025) | His user counts only climb: 20K (Oct 2024), 200K+ (Dec 2024), 300K+ (Mar 2025), 400K (Jul 2025), 500K+ later | Can't check; consistent over time |
| His best posts were "W posts", about specific results | In his fastest months, Sep–Dec 2024, the best-viewed posts in the sample were the launch, the demo and the user-count bill (416K, 350K, 218K) | Holds |
| "I haven't been posting much lately" (Oct 25, 2025) | October 2025: 25 main posts, against 47–63 a month the year before | Holds |
| The launch post brought "four figures" and 10K users in a day (Sep 2025) | The launch post had 415,984 views; income and users can't be seen | Can't check; the views fit |
